VISUAL STYLE & INFLUENCES
“The aesthetics I will use will be mainly detailed and intimate shots of key moments with alluring framing compositions. One of the aims I have in mind is making the film in such a way that it conveys all the emotions that the country evokes, not only in image but also in sound. There will be scenes in which the characters will speak just with the eyes. We will take care of every composition and frame and make it look like a painting while maintaining a shade of bluish pale red colors. My main references are Jim Jarmusch, Michael Haneke, François Ozon and David Lynch.
The main reason that drove me to make this decision and get my producer involved in it comes from the way I see Georgia. I see it like a portrait of another world for its intriguing culture and history, its intimate and distinctive atmosphere and inspiring people. And the story I wrote is mostly linked to the actual situation in Georgia and how the country is still trapped in its past.
One of the films that have influenced me the most is the German movie “Lore” (2012). The feature is based in Germany at the end of World War II. Lore, the main character, must travel to her grandmother’s house near Hamburg after their Nazi parents were gone. Over the journey, she meets up with a young man, Thomas, who pretends to be a German, but who turns out to be a Jewish survivor of a concentration camp.
The second film that influenced me a lot is the Georgian film “In Bloom” (2013). It takes place in Tbilisi, Georgia in 1992. The film presents Eka and Natia, 14-year-old best friends that live in a war. The fighting, in the northern Abkhazia region, is a long way from the capital, Tbilisi, where the girls live, but the conflict takes place often in the adult conversations.” – Anna Parcerisas
Short film | 15 minutes
Shooting format RED EPIC
Production company – Sarke Studio LCC
Location – Tbilisi and Kakheti region, Georgia
Following the death of her grandfather, 25-year-old Natia returns to Georgia to see her grandmother in a small village in the region of Kakheti, Georgia. Having lived in Europe for many years, Natia sees with fresh eye – and first hand – the brutal Georgian tradition of bride kidnapping. Angry and stricken, Natia is forced to reassess her culture and her own values.
The film is a portray of a reality that Georgia has been living for so many years and that nowadays is still happening in some regions. It follows the sparkling and intense internal conflict of a 25-year-old Georgian girl who is coming back to her birth country after spending most of her life growing up in Spain.
